Platform for Labour Action (PLA)

Platform for Labour Action (PLA) is a National Civil Society Organization founded in 2000. PLA is focused on promoting and protecting the rights of vulnerable and marginalized workers through empowerment of communities and individuals in Uganda. They target vulnerable and marginalized workers, majority of who are women, youth and children. This includes children in exploitative forms of work and those at risk of exploitation; vulnerable and marginalized workers infected and affected by HIV and AIDS, persons with disability, women, youth , low income earners and other groups defined as vulnerable and marginalized.

Project title:  Legal Aid for Poor, Vulnerable and marginalised Persons in Uganda

Brief description: The project will provide legal protection for poor, vulnerable and marginalized persons from abuse and exploitation; improving compliance with labor and employment standards amongst employees and employers; and increasing protection of vulnerable migrant workers against exploitative labor.

Geographical coverage: Kampala, Iganga, Kaliro, Bugiri, Busia, Tororo, Lira, Dokolo, and Amolatar districts.
